Missed Mounjaro or Wegovy doses and restarting after a break
First check which kind of medicine it is and how late it is. Don’t rush to take it again.
Mounjaro and Wegovy have different make-up time limits. If you miss a shot, you don’t need to take twice as much to make up for it.
Confirm three things first
Which medicine and pen type you used, what day the injection was originally supposed to be given, and the time of the last actual injection. The following describes the situation where an injection is missed occasionally; if you have missed it several times, stopped taking the medicine because of discomfort, or cannot remember the time, please contact the clinic first to confirm.
Mounjaro: See if it's still within 4 days
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours). If more than 4 days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on the usual scheduled day. Allow at least 72 hours between injections. If you are unsure how to schedule the next dose after a catch-up dose, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Wegovy FlexTouch: check whether you are within 5 days
According to the Taiwan information for the Wegovy FlexTouch pen, a missed dose can be taken as soon as possible within 5 days. After more than 5 days, skip the missed dose and resume the usual schedule. Check your specific pen and dispensing label first. Do not apply the rules for Mounjaro or other pen versions sold overseas.
Do not resume high dosage after stopping medication for a period of time
How long you stopped, how much you used before, and whether your stomach is adapted to it will all affect how you start again. Tell the medical team the record and confirm how to restore it. Do not reduce the number of points or directly return to the old high dose.
When asking about a re-injection, please indicate the date of injection
You can say: "My medicine is ____. It was originally scheduled to be administered on Sunday. The last actual injection was on __month___day___ and I have missed it ____ times so far." If you stopped taking the medicine because of discomfort, you should also explain it together. This way, you won’t mix up an occasional missed shot with restarting after stopping the drug.
Mark the "actual injection day" on the mobile phone calendar. Before giving a make-up shot, also confirm the day on which the next shot should be scheduled.
